Mittul Vahanvati

Lecturer at RMIT University

Mittul is a lecturer at RMIT University Sustainability and Urban Planning in Melbourne, Australia. Her research focuses on resilience to disasters and climate change through community-led approaches, co-design and nature-based solutions to spatial design, in context of Australasia and the Pacific.


Expertise:

Shelter for disaster risk reduction (working on Habitat for Humanity Fiji project to develop a shelter guide with Solomon Island National University)

Nature-based Solutions (including co-design studio in Honiara as part of Climate Resilient Honiara action research project)

Community-led approaches (including co-production of Tarnagulla Resilience Action Plan in regional Victoria)

Urban design, housing, disaster reconstruction, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation
